Hong Kong Legislator Margaret Ng studied philosophy at HKU. She finished her MA thesis in philosophy in 1975. She received her law degree from the University of Cambridge. She is also a regular commentator in the local media.
Professor Kwong-loi Shun is Chair Professor of Philosophy at Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was the Vice-President and Principal of the University of Toronto at Scarborough. He studied mathematics and philosophy as an undergraduate at HKU, and finished his MA thesis in philosophy at HKU in 1978. He went on to study at Oxford and Stanford. He is the author of the book Mencius And Early Chinese Thought. |
Information for applicantsThe Department of Philosophy offers two higher degrees by research, the M.Phil and the Ph.D, and can arrange for supervision over a wide range of philosophical topics.We welcome both international and local students to apply. Qualified candidates might be able to obtain financial assistance through studentships administered by the University.
