Industrial Training
In the second-year summer break, students may opt to take an “Industrial training” course. This normally involves an internship or placement in industry to give them practical working experience. The duration of the training is at least 6 weeks, but it may be extended to 8 weeks or more, subject to the company’s requirement. As an alternative to industrial placement, some students opt to combine technical training with language improvement by joining a specially-organized programme run by a prestigious university in mainland China. One such programme is offered by Tsinghua University in Beijing.
