The Institute has a fast developing track record of research, strategically organized under two generic themes relevant to the study of human performance:
Presently, our research efforts are driven by 10 academic members of staff, 11 research postgraduate students and 8 research assistants. We publish in a multidisciplinary range of international peer-reviewed journals, including Psychological Science, Applied Cognitive Psychology, Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, Neuroscience Letters, Psychology of Sport & Exercise, Journal of Clinical Epidemiology, Perception, Motor Control, Neurorehabilitation & Neural Repair, Acta Psychologica, Thorax, American Journal of Human Biology, Gait & Posture, Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation Psychology, Human Movement Science and Ergonomics.
Our sources of research income reflect relationships with the HK Research Grants Council, Health & Health Services Research Fund, Hong Kong Sports Institute, and other external bodies in HK and internationally. We are very much an interdisciplinary research Institute, with ongoing collaborations with departments in the University, around Hong Kong and elsewhere in the world.
Additionally, members of staff also play an important role in the University’s Strategic Research Themes (Public Health; Biomedical Engineering).
The University has shown broad support for our research recently by funding 4 Research Assistant Professors. Members of staff have held Universitas 21 Fellowships, numerous internal grants and various joint HK/Germany research scheme grants etc. We train research postgraduates (PhD, MPhil) in both research themes, drawn from both local and international backgrounds.
You can find more details about the research interests of individual staff members, and their current research projects and collaborations, by consulting their individual web pages.
