| What is a Major in Exercise Science all about?

| Exercise science is the discipline concerned with understanding the human body’s control of, and response to, movement and physical activity. Knowledge of exercise science is critical for understanding how movements are controlled and learned and how physical activity can best be used in the prevention and management of chronic disease. |
| Is there any practical work?

| Yes. You’ll take practical tasks in the laboratory, workshop and in the ‘field’. These tasks typically include gathering and analyzing data and being research subjects (for example being the subject of a VO2max test in the laboratory, analyzing statistical data collected in a workshop and observing and interviewing people in their ‘natural’ social environments). |

| 2-3 hours of contact time! Independent study is the key difference between school and university study and requires a different type of motivation and organization. If you need help with making this transition, the university runs study skills workshops. |
