The Institute of Human Performance has developed a number of active partnerships with other groups within HKU, with community groups within Hong Kong and with academic collaborators internationally. The University of Hong Kong is a member of the Universitas 21 group of global universities. IHP has taken a lead role in bringing together those universities within the U21 group with strength in exercise science and related areas to form strong collaborative partnerships. An initial meeting of the U21 exercise science group was held at the University of Hong Kong in October 2005 and brought together partners from the University of British Columbia, the University of Queensland, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Glasgow, the University of Birmingham and Fudan University. A second meeting of the group, again hosted by the IHP, was held at the University of Hong Kong in late September 2007, as a discipline group meeting under the umbrella of the annual U21 Health Sciences meeting. This meeting, involving representatives from seven universities, including for the first time the University of Auckland and University College, Dublin, held discussions on issues related to postgraduate student mobility, opportunities for shared postgraduate coursework development and approaches to establishing successful clinics (as a functional nexus for teaching, research and community service activities). |
