World Health Organization has announced the end of the H1N1 pandemic, over a year after it was declared. H1N1 is now moved into the post-pandemic period.

Outbreak of Influenza A(H1N1) (also known as Human Swine Influenza) was first recorded in Mexico in late March 2009. Until late April 2009, it was confirmed to be caused by a new influenza virus, which eventually spread to the whole world. The World Health Organization announced on June 11, 2009 that the outbreak has developed into a pandemic. In view of the challenge of this new influenza, we need to deepen our understanding on the disease in a scientific manner so that appropriate personal and community preventive measures can be adopted.
